Couple holds hands at Lost Gulch engagement session

lost gulch overlook engagement session in boulder, co | Emma + Jake

This past July, I got to meet up with Emma and Jake at sunrise to take their engagement photos at Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, Colorado. We were all a little bleary-eyed but super excited to have the whole overlook to ourselves! This is usually a popular spot but we got super lucky with it being completely empty. It makes waking up super early really worth it to have a space to yourselves (and you have the rest of your day ahead of you!). Lost Gulch has stunning 360 views of the mountains and tons of spots to sit or walk around. I couldn’t stop thinking about how good of a place this would be for a couple to elope at! It was also nice that it wasn’t super far for us from Denver, about a 30-40 minute drive.

My friend from college recommended me to Emma and Jake which I’m super grateful for. It was so funny, because back in college she used to tell me that I always reminded her of her friend Emma and then a couple years later I got to take their photos! Safe to say, it was a full-circle moment. Emma and Jake even brought their adorable yellow lab, Baylor, who's named after the university they both graduated from. He was eager to explore and pose for some photos and added the cutest touch to the whole session. I always recommend that if you’re going to bring a pet to bring along a sibling or a friend to help with them. Usually the pet will hop in a couple of photos and then want to run around. It can be difficult to focus on the session if your pet is going all over the place, so try to always recruit a pet wrangler if you can haha!
