Colorado Intimate Outdoor Wedding | Makenna + Reid

After meeting in the Dominican Republic and dating in college, Makenna & Reid finally tied the knot surrounded by family at a local park. All of the details of their intimate outdoor wedding were gorgeous: from the neutral tones, corset wedding dress, and light gray groomsmen's suits -- everyone was looking amazing. Makenna and Reid read letters to each other before they walked down the aisle and exchanged gifts, and no one (including myself) could hold back tears. Makenna also did a first look with her dad, and if you've ever seen a big guy with a huge beard cry, then you'll cry like I did hahah. They added another special touch to their wedding by having Reid's sister marry them, and it was such a cool way to tie the love from their family into their marriage. We ended the evening with a pop of champagne and lots of hugs.
After shooting weddings for a couple of seasons, I’ve come to realize how much I love helping people savor in special moments. I’m someone who is always aware of the beauty of a moment as it’s happening and I always try to encourage my couples to be present too. Your wedding day moves quickly, so I always recommend spending some time alone to soak it all in. You can do this by doing a first look, doing a blind first look, or even during the reception walking away from the crowd to take some deep breaths and take a look around at what your love created. My couples are always so happy that they made sure they did that afterwards because when you have a larger guest count, it’s easy to forget that the day is about you two getting married.
